- The geographic situation of the region in the midst of the Alps with the lowest pass on the north-south route through Europe has always provided a considerable amount of trade and traffic, although nowadays this asset is becoming more and more a burden for the environment.
- Three different language groups inhabit the region - Italians, Germans and Ladins - assuring an interesting mix of culture and the openness of the population to culture-crossing cooperation.
- The region enjoys a unique autonomy within the Italian state and the EU, enacted to ensure the peaceful cohabitation of the different language groups and freedom in decision making to the regional institutions.

- Située au centre des Alpes avec le col le plus bas sur la route qui traverse l'Europe du nord au sud, la région a toujours généré un trafic et des échanges commerciaux considérables, bien que de nos jours, cet atout devienne de plus en plus un inconvénient pour l'environnement.
- Trois groupes linguistiques cohabitent dans cette région - Italiens, Allemands et Ladins- et forment un mélange culturel intéressant et ouvert à la coopération inter-culturelle.
- La région jouit de statut d'autonomie locale unique au sein de l'État italien et de l'UE qui garantit une cohabitation sans tension entre les différents groupes linguistiques et une prise de décision au niveau régional.
