- The Province is an alpine border region with Austria and Switzerland, enjoys considerable autonomy (which implies wide independence and important powers) granted after long negotiations with the central government in 1972 and the revision of the autonomy status of 1948.
- The main economic sectors are tourism and agriculture.
- Three different ethnic groups live on the territory of the Province : Germans (69% of the total population, Italians (26.5%) and the population speaking rheto-roman languages (4.5).

- La Province est située dans une région alpine frontalière (Autriche et Suisse), elle bénéficie d'une large autonomie (qui lui confère une large indépendance et des pouvoirs importants) accordée suite à de longues négociations avec le gouvernement central en 1972 et la révision du statut d'autonomie de 1948.
- Les secteurs économiques les plus importants sont le tourisme et l'agriculture.
- Sur le territoire de la Province vivent trois groupes ethniques différents : Allemands (69% de la population), italiens (26,5%) et la population d'origine linguistique rhéto-romane (4,5%).
